The LOMA Society is a flexible, membership-based learning community where members can learn, create, work, socialize and explore their interests. Academy and Family Members also have access to classes, academic support, Quran, meals and hands-on learning.

LOMA is a membership-based learning community, not a traditional school. Families use LOMA in different ways depending on their educational goals and schedules.

No. LOMA is open to homeschoolers as well as students enrolled elsewhere who want to participate when their schedules allow.

Membership begins at age 9. Girls and women may participate at any age, and boys may participate through age 21. Moms can also become Academy Members.

Members should be able to safely navigate shared spaces, follow community expectations and handle an age-appropriate level of independence. Some members may be asked to attend with a parent.

Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Come when it works for you.

LOMA instructors lead classes, academic teachers support members using LOMA’s math and literacy programs, and staff support members throughout the facility.

Very flexible. Members can come on the days and at the times that work for their family and may stay for a class, a few hours or most of the day.

Parents choose their child’s approved arrival and departure permissions. Depending on age and readiness, members may be released to an authorized adult or approved for independent arrival and departure.

Youth members may only leave according to the permissions established by their parent or guardian.

No. Members do not reserve days. Some classes or activities may require advance registration because space is limited.

Members have age-appropriate independence within a supervised environment. Staff circulate throughout LOMA’s learning, recreational and community spaces, and common areas may also be camera monitored.

No. Academy and Family Members may use LOMA’s online math and literacy programs or bring their own coursework. LOMA teachers provide academic assistance with the LOMA-provided programs.

Academy and Family Memberships include LOMA’s online math and literacy programs, with academic teachers available to help members using those programs.

Yes. Lounge Members may use the Learning Lounge and its quiet, collaborative and comfortable work areas for independent work.

LOMA’s academic programs are individualized and mastery-based, allowing members to progress at their own pace.

Yes. Members work at the level that fits their current skills in each subject.

No. The online programs are just one part of the day, alongside classes, projects, Quran, meals and recreation.

Depending on the class or program, families may receive mastery records, project portfolios, completion records or other examples of their member’s work. LOMA does not issue diplomas, official transcripts or school credit.

Classes are included with Academy and Family Memberships and are subject to availability and capacity.

Academy Members may take as many included classes as they would like, subject to class capacity.

LOMA classes are hands-on, skill-based and often project-based. Members learn by doing, making, practicing and exploring.

No. Members choose the classes that interest them and decide how to spend the rest of their day.

Most structured classes are approximately 45 minutes, meet twice per week and run for about 12 weeks.

Many do. Semester 2 also includes new introductory classes.

The LOMA Showcase is an optional opportunity for members to share something they’ve learned, created or accomplished—from artwork and projects to performances, food, skills or business ideas.

No. Members may change what they participate in as their interests change.

Yes. Quran instruction is available every weekday.

LOMA may offer Quran Foundations, Developing, Intermediate, Tajweed and Hifdh levels.

Members are placed by their current Quran reading ability rather than by age.

Yes. Salah is incorporated naturally into the LOMA day.

Yes. Offerings may include Stories of the Prophets, Tafsir, Islamic art, Arabic calligraphy and other Islamic enrichment classes.

Meals during applicable hours are included with Academy and Family Memberships.

Lounge Members may bring food from home or purchase available food, and are always welcome in the Café and community spaces.

Yes. Fresh fruits and vegetables are available daily.

Yes. The Café is also used for cooking, baking and other culinary classes.

Yes. Moms can become Academy Members and take classes with their children or independently.

Not necessarily. If her child is approved to participate independently, mom is free to enjoy her own LOMA experience. Some members may still require parent accompaniment based on readiness.

Yes. The Parent Lounge is open during member hours to work remotely, read, relax or socialize.

Yes. Moms and dads may apply to teach approved skill-based classes. A teaching certificate isn’t required—instructors are approved based on their skills, experience and fit for the class.

Families earn a $25 tuition credit for every approved hour contributed to LOMA—teaching, reception, meal support, cleaning, events, supplies, admin or other approved needs. Credits have no cash value and apply only to LOMA membership, tuition or eligible fees.

No. Participation is optional, opportunities depend on LOMA’s current needs, and all hours require prior approval.

LOMA offers three membership levels: • Lounge — $500/month per student • Academy — $1,500/month per member • Family — $4,000/month for the immediate family Each membership level builds on the one before it. Visit the Membership page for the full comparison.

Lounge Membership includes access to LOMA’s Learning Lounge, library, work areas, social and recreational spaces, Café and community spaces during member hours.

Academy Membership includes everything in Lounge, plus LOMA classes, hands-on learning, online math and literacy programs, academic assistance, meals during applicable hours and Showcase opportunities.

Family Membership provides full Academy Membership for all eligible children in the immediate family plus mom, with no limit on the number of children.

Any class material fees are disclosed before a member joins that class.

Yes. Membership can begin at any time, and members may join classes that have openings.
